We set out to improve the consumer experience in comparison shopping and to challenge old ecommerce and marketing models. 20 years later and we're leaders in our space, working across retail and ecommerce in the UK & EU.

21 Years Ago
We created Genie Ventures!
Take a magic carpet ride through our journey from self-funded startup to an award-winning employer and leading light in ecommerce marketing & technology.
MAR 2004
We launch Broadband Genie
We had a simple goal: save consumers time and money by making (new-fangled) broadband switching as simple as possible.
MAY 2008
We settle down in Cambridge
And Paul joins Phil and Ciaron as the third member of the founding team. We’re still based in Cambridge, but now as a distributed team spread across the UK and beyond.
APR 2011
Crowdstorm joins Genie
We acquired Crowdstorm, a social shopping and price comparison website, which would eventually evolve into Genie Shopping ⚡
SEP 2011
We create Clarence - the future of bidding!
The first version of our game-changing bidding tech was magicked into life. Clarence had an immediate impact, fuelling volumes and slashing costs of sale.
JAN 2012
We create Genie Goals
We wish our own performance marketing agency into existence to help retailers use our strategies and technology to revolutionise their own digital marketing. Our first clients are Lumie and Amara.
SEP 2012
Magic beans...
Our coffee phase! We launched Kopi & Big Cup Little Cup - two disruptive coffee startups delivering outstanding coffee to your doorstep. We exited both after two years of caffeine-fueled fun!
JAN 2014
10th anniversary of Broadband Genie
As the UK's longest standing dedicated broadband comparison site, we were now welcoming more than 1.5 million visitors to the site each year.

Dwell becomes a client
Leading UK furniture design brand Dwell became a Genie Goals client, marking our first big splash in the retail digital marketing space.

Moved to Carlyle House
With Millers Yard being redeveloped, we took the opportunity to move across Cambridge to Carlyle House; a space with real expansion potential.

Top international clients come on board
International fashion icon Calvin Klein and American luxury lifestyle brand Shinola Detroit became Genie Goals clients.

We create Genie Academy
The first new recruits passed through our new in-house training academy, revolutionising our own people development.

Google Shopping Innovation Award Winners
Our bidding technology is recognised as the best on the planet (our words!), showing how far we’ve come.

Founding Google CSS Partner
Genie Shopping is one of the very first Google Comparison Shopping Service (CSS) Partners on its brand-new programme to open up Shopping Ads.
2018-2019
Genie Goals continues to grow
2018 sees the impressive Genie Goals client list continue to grow, with international retailers including Bestseller, Smythson, and Tom Dixon joining the family. Bravissimo, Tower London, and Arsenal follow in 2019.

Genie Goals gets its new Chief!
Emily Long steps up as the new CEO of Genie Goals, adding vast client-side experience to our industry leadership in performance marketing.
